MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS - Who are they for?
Medicare is health insurance for People age 65 or older or People under 65 with certain disabilities, including End Stage Renal Disease.
You basically have two major choices on how to get your coverage:
1. Original Medicare - Part A (Hospital) and Part B (Doctor visits)
2. Medicare Advantage - Part C (administered through private companies)
Part D is prescription drug coverage which you can get in addition to Parts A and B or have it included with a Part C advantage plan.
People on Original Medicare (Parts A and B) will have out of pocket costs (such as deductibles, coinsurance, and co-payments) because original medicare does not pay for everything.
Medicare supplements (also called Medigap) are designed to cover all or part of those out of pocket costs.
